The History

The estate’s origins trace back to the 10th century, when a fortress known as Castrum Aquilae was founded along with other castles in the area. The first record of it dates to 1130. Over the centuries, it was contested between Jesi and Staffolo, until peace was established in 1456. Within the castle walls once stood several churches and monastic dwellings, all but one — the Church of Santa Lucia — were lost to time.

This church, cited in the 1285 testament of Count Corrado d’Accola, was almost completely destroyed in 1447 along with the castle itself. Four centuries later, in 1847, it was lovingly restored and reopened for worship. Today, this very church stands once more at the heart of the estate, blending the sacred past with the elegance of contemporary living.
